Boho-Chic Necklace

Items Needed

- 1 metre of black suede cord

- 19  of 10mm metal spacer balls – black plated

- 1 of oval bali style 5 strand metal pendant

- 5 of flat head pin silver plated

- Size 6 seed beads in black ( only available in shop )

- 1 lobster clasp silver plated

- 2 of 3mm x 3mm + 3mm ring silver plated  leather ends

- 2 of 6mm silver plated split-rings

- 5 of 6mm silver plated   jump rings

 

Method

- Place the pendant onto the suede so that it is in the middle of the suede.

- Tie the pendant in place using a hitch knot. Then place 1 black plated bead onto the suede by threading both suede ends through the bead  (the black plated bead will now be sitting on top of the hitch knot) . Tie a fairly loose knot above this bead.

- Onto each side of the pendant now place a black plated spacer ball bead tying a knot (not too tight) in between each of the beads.  Do this until the number of beads that you want is achieved.  On this necklace I have put 9 beads onto each side. Tie a knot after the last bead to secure it.

- Cut the suede to the length of necklace required.

-  Onto the hole of each of the silver plated leather ends place a split right.  Do this in the same way that you would put keys onto a split-ring key ring.

- Put the silver plated lobster clasp onto one of the split rings in the same way.

- Using flat nosed pliers secure the leather ends onto each end of the suede.  Do this by squeezing one end over the suede, then squeezing the other end over and squeezing tight, so that the suede is secure inside the leather end folds.

- To create the pendant dangles you will need 5 headpins and size 6 seed beads.  On 2 headpins thread on 6 seed beads, on 2 headpins thread 9 seed beads, on 1 headpin thread 12 seed beads.  On each headpin make a wrapped loop near to the top of the seed beads using round nose pliers.  Do this on all of the headpins holding the seed beads.

- Secure each of the headpins in a graduated way (starting with the largest in the middle and tapering to the shortest at the end) onto the loops of the pendent with jump rings – carefully opening the jump rings by pushing one end forward and the other end in the opposite direction, and fasten again bringing the ends together again.

Now bring out your hippie skirts and dance the night away!!
